ABOUT TANI DU TOIT
Heart-led support for conscious creators and facilitators of calm
Hi, I am Tani, a highly intuitive, and experienced therapeutic bodyworker and writer who loves to create.

I wasn't always doing what I love. Before I started focusing on supporting people with their bodies and well-being, I was stuck behind a desk at a newspaper company. I ran on caffeine, alcohol, competition and adrenaline and I wasn't happy.

It was 10 years ago, at 40, when I was diagnosed with a (benign) tumour behind my left ear that I decided, enough is enough.
I had been to my GP more times I care to remember to figure out what was going on with the pain in my head. She told me I was overreacting, exaggerating, needed to see a psychologist for anxiety and that was that.

So, I did what I had avoided doing for years, but it's the thing I do best.
I tuned in to my body. I went back to my GP.
This is what I told her:

"I have a tumour behind my ear. It is about the size of a kidney bean. Next time I see you, I will have a long scar running down the side of my throat because it will take some work to get it out."

She smirked. Wrote her notes and repeated: Go see someone (ie, you're crazy).
I left, followed my intuition to a small country town where I sat outside its carpark, called for an appointment, describing the GP who would give me the support I needed.

Some weeks later, the original GP called me, and told me she received the report from my surgeon and was astounded at the accuracy of the notes she took during our last appointment. My response? "It's OK, you're only human, I get it."

What I didn't get, though, was that I had dismissed my "only human" body's cues for so long that I had completely disregarded my body's messages and potential to show me the way to wellness.
So I learnt to listen better. I still learn, every day.
So far, this is what I know and what is offered in The Restore Method:

1) my human brain is a phenomenal bit of machinery. Despite its creative capacity, it's mainly interested in my survival,
2) my body is entirely made of energy and its polarity flow has a tremendous impact on my wellbeing,
3) my breath is where it all begins and it all ends,
4) my body's mental, emotional and physical wellness is held in place by conscious and mostly unconscious structures, and
5) I can change any structure when my nervous system is regulated.

Through my experience as a therapeutic bodyworker, I can say with confidence that every human being I have worked with, young and old, is on a mission to live their purpose. The main reason they give up on the way there, is because they can't deal with the panic, anxiety and fear that arise when they start to choose that for themselves.

I've heard it so many times: "You're lucky, you get to do what you love. You don't have this fear/anxiety/worry/ etc."

My answer - "Wanna try me?"
So, how do I do it?

I regulate for the way my nervous system learnt to respond to the world:
One day at a time.
My programs won't have all the answers but I believe it has the potential to show you, in a gentle and simplified way, to use your own body, mind, energy and breath as the most effective regulation tools available to you, in any moment, no matter where life takes you.

Ultimately, I wrote this guide because I didn't want my daughter to end up like me, a body-aware woman who, only in her mid-40s, learnt that autonomic nervous system regulation isn't a bubble bath, wine, hot chocolate or a weekend retreat.
What I want for my child, is to have an understanding of why her brain and body respond to life the way it does, how to spend less and less time in survival mode and spend most of her time in the potential and possibilities of her heart, living and creating the life of her dreams.

I trust in some way, The Restore Method and Programs will open a door to you, where you are able to not only regulate yourself to wellness but become a grounded and regulating presence who can improve the life of anyone you meet.

Oh... before I forget.

Yes, I did "go see" someone. I saw a loving energetic bodyworker the Friday before my surgery. When my surgeon spoke to me after the procedure he said: "I don't know what you did since I saw you, but the tumour had shrunk, and it was surprisingly easy to find. The surgery only took 1.5h and not the 5h we had planned."

What did that lady "do"? I have no idea. What I do know, is when I left her office that Friday afternoon, I knew nothing was wrong with me - and that was the moment everything in me, changed.
